Is Khaki the New Black ? Oh yes, yes it is ! Looking at the Pre-Fall 2017-2018 runways, we saw a myriad of very stylish Back To School looks, many of which contained the military hue.
Easily dressed up or down, the idea behind khaki is that it’s both unexpected and cool. Not to mention the fact that it’s a neutral that looks good with litteraly any other color and suits all styles. Use it as a blank canvas and let your imagination play ; mix it with bright touches of colour, add earthy tones for a safari vibe, be unapologetic in a head to toe… The options are seemingly endless.
To help you transition from beach to office wear and gently ease you out of your comfort zone of blacks and navies, we have selected the best designer’s khaki outfits. Scroll down, you won’t be disappointed.
Even though this trend is not about military, who can think of the shade without picturing a full on camo? As usually, Jeremy Scott meets all our expectations at Moschino and gives us a super feminine and rosebud interpretation of the army staple. The fringe jacket, ranger boots and beret might give us the impression that the model comes straight out of an intense bootcamp but the subtle flower prints and design on the pants and the top make the whole difference.
For a minimal approach to the trend, refer to Dion Lee‘s detailed long dress and its matching socks and hat or to Joseph‘s tailored tone on tone outfit composed by a fitted jacket worn over cigarette pants and a high turtleneck. So good, we couldn’t just pick one.
Stella McCartney went back to khaki’s roots, sending out an oversized variation of the iconic khaki trench and making it the new IT outwear piece of the season. She paired if with a buttoned-up khaki shirt, matching pointy boots, and a floral printed bag for a romantic twist to an overall utilitarian look.
For a preppy vibe and the ultimate first day back to work outfit (we all still kind of do that, right?) Fendihas got exactly what you need! The perfect uniform skirt and moccasins combo, magnified by a short khaki fur and a playful signature handbag. We are loving it!
And last but not least, Issey Miyake brought life to the trend adapting its iconic pleats to the trendy color in the form of a long cardigan opened on original buttoned up slacks.
As summer is slowly coming to an end, it’s time to rethink your seasonal wardrobe. So why wait? Join the sartorial army, it’s time to give khaki a go !
